Dangerous Time and Dangerous Precidents

Let me start off by saying I actually do get some weird joy watching leftists get pepper sprayed and taken down on camera, because, well, I don't like commies. Likewise, I don't like Letitia James - I think she is on the far left and has tried pressuring banks into not working with gun manufacturers (let alone her prosecution of a political opponent). BUT - I have to be honest. Its all getting to be a bit too much. The indictment of Letitia James, James Comey, and the upcoming indictment of John Bolton (who I also actually don't like) are a little tyrant-y and are setting us up for some dangerous times. Are these powers the president should have in a free society? Are we under the illusion that when the left regains office (which will happen again, maybe in 4 years, maybe in 8... but we'd be fools to believe it won't) that they won't go on arresting sprees of their own in revenge?  Then there is the national guard and ICE pushing back protesters and slamming pe...

Ky State Rep Elections Coming Up

2024 is an election year in Kentucky (again) but just for select roles - Predsident (of course), US Rep, State Rep, some State Senate, and some judicial spots... so the goal is to touch on some of these on the blog. To get us started lets look at District 91 - Powell, Estill, and part of Madison. Right now there are no Democrats filed for the seat (maybe we'll end up getting one out of Madison) but for the Republican primary we have two: Darrell Billings, a Powell County business owner, and Bill Wesley, a former Police Officer... from the libertarian perspective, the choice here is obvious. Darrell Billings has already stated he wants to be pro-business and lower state income tax (why are we so behind on this anyway?), while Bill Wesley has shown that he throws 99% of his efforts behind police causes (he is after all, the chaplain for several as well as a member of the public protection standing committee). Now, I personally support the police (especially small town police)... jus...

Unpleasant Truths

America is falling apart. Rhetoric from the left and from the right are drawing people to such extremes that hardly anyone can see the Maxine Waters and Donald Trump are the SAME hypocritical people, yet some people think that Joe Biden's incoherent progressive agenda will somehow bind America together again. I'm sorry, they are wrong. Therefore I will make this post a list of unpleasant truths that America needs to hear, not to heal - but in order to do some deep thinking. 1. There is NO difference in the far right storming the Capitol Building and the far left smashing and attacking federal buildings arounds the country. 2. EVERYONE is angry at a government that makes more money, had less covid restrictions, and generally ignores/belittles the average person. People feel that the government sees individual citizens lives as worthless. 3. Judging ANYONE by the amount of melanin their skin produces is idiocy - and it happens to every " race " because humans group ...

What is a neoreactionary?

"I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible." - Peter Thiel, Billionaire Venture Capitalist.  So, I have recently stumbled upon the writings of the neoractionary movement (NRx for short), also known as the "dark enlightenment" and chances are that many libertarian thinkers, writers, and activists may have as well, so... what is it? Although it is now affiliated with the alt-right because of its views that often deteriorate into ideologies on IQ and other factors of human differentiation, it actually originated out of libertarianism. In short, it is a philosophical world view that freedom and a stable government cannot be achieved through the elective democracy that we tend to push. I must admit, many of their arguments are intriguing to say the least. One could argue that monarchies such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Monaco, and Liechtenstein where the monarch still has control are very stable as well as incredibly wealthy ...

What does the bible say about taxes

Any Statist or their brother can quote the bible verse Mathew 22:21 "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's." They use this quote and the quotes about Jesus paying taxes to say "See! Taxes are just and biblical." But what about what actually happened to Caesar? Lest we forget, Caesar was never a christian... and furthermore he was stabbed in the back by his closest ally. I think it is also important to look at Amos 5:11 "Therefore because you trample on the poor and you exact taxes of grain from him, you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine." So what is the moral of this story? When taxes are levied, it is our duty to pay them... but bad things happen to those who tax people into oblivion. It's a give and take, and this shutdown is really proving that.

New Young Americans for Liberty chapter in Mt. Sterling

Do you or anyone else you know attend Maysville Community & Technical College? If so there is a new chapter of Young Americans for Liberty based out of the Montgomery County campus! This is the third chapter in the red river area after the EKU chapter in Richmond and the Morehead chapter at Morehead State!! For those of you that don't know, YAL is the fastest growing student organization in the United States right now and is one of the only organizations of its kind offering students summer jobs and chances to advance to a national leadership level. YAL champions the ideas of personal liberty, loweing the national debt, balancing the budget, and more!! Essentially it promotes conservative & libertarian ideas to make a better America!! For more info on this new chapter, visit the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/maysvilleyal/ Or the YALibety online page: https://yaliberty.org/chapters/maysville-community-college/

Election 2018: Its almost time (ask if you need signs)

For everyone that has been keeping up, it is almost election time! This election cycle the Libertarian Party of Kentucky has 15 candidates running with our newly acquired ballot access, absolutely a record for us!! In our neck of the woods we have two candidates close by running. In Mount Sterling we have Shannon Denniston, an incumbent Magistrate/Justice of the Peace for Montgomery County. He is a business leader in the area, and hopefully his success will encourage other libertarians in the area to run. See more at  http://facebook.com/votedenniston/ And of course, for the 6th Congressional District we are running Frank Harris - a very analytical candidate who went to the University of Kentucky for Computer Science and Mathematics (I know, we would have rather had an Eastern Kentucky University of Morehead State grad, but hey he's a good choice!). He will be facing Andy Barr, Rikka Wallen, Amy McGrath, and James Germalic. For more info on him you can visit his site at  h...
